The Process
Tell me about your book. Pitch me your ideas for a trailer. Working together, I'll use this information and your ideas to create a cinematic trailer for your book.
The process will begin once you read and agree to my Terms and Conditions and pay a deposit of half the total cost of the project.
When the rough cut of your book trailer is complete, I'll e-mail you a proof and work with you through up to two rounds of revisions to perfect the trailer.
After you have approved the final cut of your trailer, I will send you YouTube® ready files, or in the case of a Reel or Story, I will send Instagram®, Facebook® ready files.
Frequently
asked
questions
What’s the turnaround time for a video?
Once I’ve scheduled your video, I'll give you a delivery date. I’ll send you a first rough cut on that date and then work with you through up to two rounds of revisions to fine-tune your video. The time between the rough cut and the final version depends on the depth of revisions and usually takes one to two weeks.
I want to add my own footage and/or audio?
By all means share with me your footage or audio. However, be aware that providing low resolution video or low quality audio will impact the professional look and sound or your trailer. A video, or audio recording from a Zoom® session is not ideal. I love it when the author is reading their work, but be midnful of background noise, etc. I can fix video and audio to a certain point, but if the results are not satisfactory, I will work with you.
what software do you use for creating a trailer?
I use FinalCut Pro with an extensive libraary of plugins from Motionvfx for video editing. For audio editing, I use Logic Pro with an extensive library of samplers and plugins from Native Instruments, Arturia and Spitfire Audio among others. For stock video footage and audio, I subscribe to Envato which features a library of independent creators. Envato now offers AI solutions, but I refuse to use AI tools.
What is your policy regarding AI?
I strongly reject AI as a tool for the creation of design, media and writing. There may be other uses for machine learning, but that is beyond my scope. An author who chooses to design their book, or create media to support that book, in my opinion, does not truly belive in their work. Would you spend months, years, a lifetime working on a book that you then spend a few minutes packaging that labor of love?
What genres do you work with?
I'm open to working with all genres. Many of the books in my portfolio are poetry books.
How do I upload my trailer or reel/story?
All the trailers/reels/stories I create are ready made for uploading to YouTube®, Instagram®, Facebook®, or TikTok®. I cannot upload them for you. It is your account. However, should you find problems uploading the trailer/reel/story that is techincally related to the files I provide, I will work with you to resolve any issues. Should any of those sites reject your work for violating their terms, that is your responsibility.
Will you use my trailer or reel/story in your portfolio?
Only with your permission. I will create a trailer/reel/story that we can both be proud of. For my portfolio, I would link to your trailer/reel/story whereever you uoloaded it. Your work will not reside on my web site except as a link. I will retain all files connected to your trailer/reel/story and will email you those file in a zip file for your records.
How do I contact you?
Just visit my Let's Talk About You page to get in touch. Please note that I'm located on the East Coast of the US, so I'm on Eastern Standard Time.
How does payment work?
I'll bill via PayPal®, or Venmo® (but you can pay with a credit or debit card even if you don’t have a PayPal® or Venmo® account). I’ll send you an initial invoice for half the cost of your project before beginning your design. Once the final revision is approved, I'll send you the second invoice.
